Michael is a solicitor with proficient experience in all areas of personal injury practice.
Michael has vast experience dealing with all aspects of personal injury litigation, including road traffic accidents, accidents at work, public liability, clinical negligence and criminal injuries compensation.
He has worked on cases of varying degrees of quantum throughout his career, from small claims up to complex serious injury and clinical negligence multi track cases. Michael now specialises in high value multi track claims, involving injuries of the utmost severity including brain and spinal injury.
At his first firm, where he worked for 10 years and eventually attaining Partner status, Michael worked on a number of high value claims, involving serious physical and brain injuries. The largest case was a ‘locked in syndrome’ cyclist claim which settled on a structured settlement basis but had an approximate lump sum valuation of around £8 million. He acted as Receiver/Guardian for a number of Court of Protection clients.
At Clear Law, Michael has a number of clients with high value claims, involving brain and spinal injuries and complex psychological trauma where quantum is in excess of £1 million. Over the last 5 months, he has settled cases totalling £1.3 million in damages.
Michael is proficient in all areas of personal-injury practice including risk assessment, drafting, negotiating and trial advocacy. He also has some previous experience in other areas of law including commercial (and litigation), conveyancing, crime, employment (and litigation) and private client. He is an ex-policeman and whilst a trainee solicitor he worked as a part-time university tutor at the University of Central Lancashire, teaching contract and personal injury law module on the CPE and LPC courses. He has been a Committee Member of Preston Incorporated Law Society, Vice-Chairman of his local Parish Council, a member of the Preston City Council Standards Committee, a Cub Scout Leader and has been a School Governor for 18 years where he is presently Chairman.
